Our team is dedicated to preserving and restoring your oral health beautifully. We respect the wishes of each individual patient and use all of our resources, especially our extensive training and experience, to meet those needs. Gustav E. Gates, DDS, MAGD
A native of Seguin, Texas, Gustav Gates has always been interested in caring for people. As an undergraduate at the University of Texas in Austin, he decided to pursue dentistry and enrolled at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. After earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1975, Dr. Gates held a general practice residency at Olin Teague Veteran’s Center.
Learning is a life-long endeavor for Dr. Gates. He is an alumnus of the  Pankey Institute, the Seattle Institute of Advanced Dental Studies, and other prestigious dental institutions. Dr. Gates also earned a Mastership award from the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) in 1993. This award requires over 750 hours of continuing education, including many hours of hands-on participation in specialized areas of dentistry. In 2007 he became the first Texas Dentist to earn the AGD Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition Award.
 Dr. Gates is a member of the Texas Dental Association, the Texas Academy of General Dentistry, and the Central Texas Dental Society. For his commitment to dental excellence, Dr. Gates has received numerous awards, including a Texas Dentist of the Year nomination by the Academy of General Dentistry twice. He was also selected by the Clinical Research Associates to be a dental product evaluator.
Outside of the practice, Dr. Gates has donated his time and talents to organizations, such as the American Heart Association and the Temple Community Free Clinic. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, Cathy.

Pamela Tucek, our office manager and financial coordinator, has worked in our practice since 1995. She helps patients receive the dentistry they need by working with their financial and insurance resources. She graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, with a B.B.A in marketing and management, and teaches Sunday school at Taylor's Valley Baptist Church. After hours, she spends time with her husband and two daughters, and enjoys boating, traveling, and reading.

You may see Debbie Burnett, one of our dental assistants, around our office as she takes x-rays, creates impressions of your teeth, or sterilizes our equipment. Debbie is a graduate of the TSTC Dental Assisting Program and attends many continuing education programs. In her free time, Debbie loves to play golf, work on her yard, and spend time with her dog, friends and family.

Kristin Hughes, another one of our dental assistants, takes pictures of your teeth with our intraoral camera, sterilizes our equipment, and does other tasks to help Dr. Gates and our team. She is a graduate of the TSTC Dental Assisting Program and is a Registered Dental Assistant. In her free time, Kristin enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter. She also enjoys camping, knitting and listening to country music.

Sherri Myers, one of our registered dental hygienists, has been in the dental field for 30 years. She has performed thousands of regular and deep cleanings and is known for her gentle touch. A graduate of Lamar University, Sherri is a member of the Central Texas Dental Hygiene Association and is an event coordinator for Sealants Across Texas. In her free time, Sherri loves to play golf, go fishing, and watch her son play baseball.

Celestia Winkler, one of our dental hygienists, brings exceptional education and experience to her work. After 13 years as a dental assistant, she began hygiene school and graduated from Temple College in 1999. While working as a hygienist, she earned a Bachelor of Health Science degree in 2006 from Texas A&M Corpus Christi, graduating Cum Laude. Also active in service organizations, Celestia participated in the Texas Missions of Mercy in Waco this year, and is on the Temple College Dental Hygiene Advisory Board, where she has served since 1999. She enjoys camping, boating, walking, reading and spending time with family.

Eileen Scott, our Treatment Coordinator, is well suited to this position. She "loves working with people, having that day-to-day interaction, and being a part of this awesome team." Eileen truly has the gifts of caring and serving others. Away from work, she loves "family times" with her husband and two sons. She also enjoys sewing, quilting, and serving as a member of the East Bell County Aggie Mom's Club.

Tawney Lowry is an experienced dental professional who works as a part-time hygienist in Dr. Gates’ practice. She graduated from the Dental Hygiene Program at Tyler Junior College in 2004 and is a Registered Dental Hygienist. Patients often compliment her gentle hands when she cleans their teeth. Tawney says, “I love helping improve the overall health of our patients as well as helping them feel proud of their smile.” Away from work, Tawney loves spending time with her family – her husband and three children. They are active in biking, swimming, and summer sports.
